Dix-Neuf welcomes proposals for special issues that seek to make a significant contribution to the field of nineteenth-century French studies broadly conceived. We particularly welcome projects that are interdisciplinary and/or propose new directions in the field. We are happy to consider proposals for single issues (5-6 articles) or double issues (8-10 articles). In addition to regular articles, special issues are welcome to include response essays. The process of submitting a proposal for a special issue is outlined below. For queries please contact the journal editors.
A short initial proposal (500-1000 words) will be evaluated by the journal editors. The proposal should include the following:
- Name(s) and affiliation(s) of guest editor(s)
- Scope and rationale for the issue
- Names of potential contributors (please indicate if they have already confirmed)
- Call for papers when appropriate
- Timeline for completing the project
Once the initial proposal is accepted, the guest editor(s) should submit an expanded proposal that will include individual abstracts from every confirmed contributor, to be approved by the editors.
The guest editor is responsible for proper vetting and editing of each article. The entire manuscript of the special issue, including the introduction, should be submitted for review by the journal editors, at least six months before the anticipated publication date. Each individual contribution will be evaluated on its own merits, as well as for their suitability for the special issue. Essay contributions by guest editors may be sent for external peer review. The general editors reserve the right to suggest that other contributions be sent for peer review on a case-by-case basis.
